Quartier Excentric (AVENUE DE ROSENDAËL, 59140 DUNKERQUE). This small U-shaped quarter was created by François Reynaert, who was born in Rosendaël in 1887. In 1927, he became an architect with the motto "Everything is a material for everything". He bought a site used for growing vegetables and built 35 houses there, for which he drew inspiration from the names chosen by the owners: Suzette, Le Baldaquin, Les Disques ("the discs"), Les Volutes ("the spirals"), Les Anneaux ("the rings"), Les Copeaux ("the shavings") with a façade notched as if with a plane, or L'Excentric Moulin, a dance hall that is now closed.
