Raleigh, NC, United States, June 20, 2020 - People gather in front of the defaced statue honoring Women of the Confederacy as word spreads that it is being taken down. The decision came the morning after Juneteenth protesters, sparked by the police killing of George Floyd, succeed in pulling two figures off of the neighboring 70-foot tall Confederate Memorial column. The morning of the 20th the Governor of NC ordered it and two other Confederate monuments to be removed from the grounds of the Old Capitol Building.
