The Danger warning sign for tourist traffic crossing the 3-mile stretch of tarmac road at low tide connecting Lindisfarne Holy Island from the mainland

The Danger warning sign for tourist traffic crossing the 3-mile stretch of tarmac road at low tide connecting Lindisfarne Holy Island from the mainland in Northumberland, Britain. Holy Island is the birthplace of Christianity bought by Saint Aiden in 635AD in Angelo-Saxon times. From here the Christian message spread around the world. Saint Aiden founded the monastery and Saint Cuthbert, founder of Lindisfarne Priory, is still a place of pilgrimage today. The small tidal island is only accessible from the mainland at low tide using a causeway at certain times of the day.
