This grass clost^ly resembles Timothy, but flowers much earlier, and thrives in all soils excepting dry sands or gravels. Its highest state of perfection is attained In strong, moist, rich soils, and it is par- ticularly valuable as a permanent pasture grass, being of very early and rapid growth. It is highly relished by stock; endures close crop- ping and forms a lux- Hriant aftermath, and quickly revives after a long drought. It is very nutritious, but unfortunately loses a large percentage in weight after being cut for hay. Sow (if alone) 3 to 4 busl;els per acre; weight, about t lbs. pel bushel.
