Ernest Maragall, candidate for the City Council of Barcelona seen celebrating the good results of the 28th elections during the election night. Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) has achieved for the first time more than one million votes which has placed it as the most voted party in Catalonia in the elections to the government of Spain. It is significant that Oriol Junqueras, leader of ERC and first on the electoral list, is serving pre-trial detention accused of sedition.
