Blue sky white clouds sunny day view of a tree trunk with near-vertical branch at one end towards the sand-dune coastline between Fairhaven and St Annes, Fylde Coast, Lancashire. The sand is blowing in the wind and some has accumulated around the log. A small tidal range covers only a small section of beach, allowing large areas to dry out and blow in the wind, as seen here. Tree remains, derived from bank erosion in the upper reaches of the River Ribble (behind the camera) are occasionally washed onto the beach by the high tide. This trunk stayed for a few weeks before being washed away. Others, incontrast, may be washed nearer and nearer the coastline, where they may be cut up and removed.
