The red colobus monkey is native to the monkey and because of this is quite rare. It has lived and evolved on the island for around 1000 years. Its habitat is within the boundaries of Jozani National Park on the Island of Zanzibar. In recent years the forest has become a conservation zone to protect flora and forna that is native to the Island.
