Perspective diagrams, 17th century. These diagrams demonstrate how perspective changes the view of object (here, the human head). This concept is known in art theory as anamorphosis. These diagrams are from La perspective curieuse (Paris, 1638), a book on anamorphic art written by the French monk, painter and mathematician Jean-Francois Niceron (1613-1646).
