Portohello, Midlothian.—This is a dial (Fig. 1692) of great interest,as it is known to have been the work of Archibald Handasyde, andit is pleasing to learn that it still remains in the possession of hisdescendants of the third generation. His grandson, the late Mr. Handa-syde, had it erected in his garden at Windsor Place, Portobello, whereit now stands. The whole is of stone, and is about 4 feet high; theface is rudely cut, and is lettered from 1 to 8 and from 4 to 12, and hasthe date 1775.
