For such work as clean-ing steel cars, automobile bodies, steelframes, tank cais, foundry castings, sheet metal of all kinds, these, brushescannot be excelled. February, 1921 CANADIAN FOUNDRYMAN 25 THE WODACK NEW AUTOMATIC-STOP DRILL The Wodack Electric Tool Corporation23-27 South Jefferson St., Chicago, , have recently perfected a new port-able electric drill in which they claim tohave developed many new features. Thedrill is motor driven, using either alter-nating or direct current, and automatic-ally stops when not in use. This is due. PORTABLE ELECTRIC DRILL. to the fact that the current-contact func-tions through a spring lever in the handlewhich is released as soon as the pressureof the operator grip is removed, muchon the same order as the valve on apneumatic hammer on the same principleas the dead man grip controller usedby the elevated railway system in Chi-cago. The motors are of the companysown design and manufacture, serieslaminated type, and are self-adjustablein speed to the size bits used. Theswitch is of a quick make and break, located at the top handle, and operatedwith the palm of the hand. As pressureis released, switch shuts off currentautomatically, thus avoiding the drillsrunning empty and at the same time en-suring the operator of having controlof the drill at all times. The gears areof chrome nickel steel and are* heattreated. Liquid tight grease compart-ment for gears protect motor windingsfrom any possible injury. Ball bear-ings are self oiling. The drill is made
