Cw 8374 Dammed off L and L at Culvert Crabtree Lane The dammed off Leeds and Liverpool over a culvert between bridges 32 and 31 near Burscough in West Lancashire on Monday the A leak had been detected either from damage to a culvert that carries a field drainage ditch under the canal or the canal wash wall with the canal flowing into an adjacent farm field. Attempts where made to stop the water flowing through the wash wall with a plastic fibre sheet but this didn’t stem the flow. On Sunday the 16th of July two fibre dams where installed either side of the leak, with pumps to keep the water flowing towards Liverpool. This picture was taken on day after as engineers looked into the problem. An update on the stoppage was issued by the Canal and River Trust on Monday the to say the section between the dams will be dewatered, a fish rescue take place and then a plan decided for repairs once the extent of the problem has been determined This will disrupt peoples plans for visiting Liverpool or leaving their moorings in Scarisbrick or the Maghull areas for a summer cruise.
