The three boats pictured here were crafted of wood. Top: Funeral ship, with a rudder and mast that has been laid flat. It is from the tomb of Mentuhotep (12th Dynasty) in Thebes. Mentuhotep is in the small cabin; there are also the figures of a miller and a brewer, in addition to the crew. Middle: The funeral ship with the mummy of a deceased. Also from the tomb of Mentuhetep. The mummy is watched over by Isis and Nephthys and the four sons of Horus. Bottom: Boat of the sun god Ra (also spelled Re) from a 12th Dynasty tomb.
