Charles Wesley (1707-88) English preacher and hymn writer. Brother of John Wesley (1703-1791). Among the more than 5,500 hymns he wrote were "Jesu, Lover of my soul" " Love divine, all loves excelling" and "Hark, the Herald Angels sing". Wood engraving.
