With stock scarce and a firm de- mand, the market held up well during the past week. All varieties of season- able flowers are in moderate demand and prices are above normal. The stiff- est market is on American Beauty, which is still on the short side, and all arrivals were quickly disposed of with little deviation from prices. Russell is scarce and the quality is very poor. Roses in general are none too plentiful and the supply is not up to require- ments. Killarneys, while of poor qual- ity, are selling well because of the scarcity of good stock. Ophelias have practically disappeared and the few that do arrive command holiday prices. The supply of carnations is shorter than a week ago and they clean up well at $4 per 100. There are suffi- cient Easter lilies for present needs and the supply of lily of the valley is ample. Sweet peas are arriving in larger numbers, the quality is good and prices continue high. Violets sell well and some very fine singles are seen.
