Insert the needle at about the distance of one-sixteenth of aninch, bring it out as for button-hole, but twist the thread once round it, so as to makea twisted strand ; work to the end of the space, and at the end of the row fastenthe thread to the lace with a strong stitch, and sew over and over the threads backto the commencement, putting two twists into each loop.
