Arno Breker, German sculptor, working on a bust of Gerhart Hauptmann, 26 October 1942. The work of Breker was popular with several leading Nazis and Hitler in particular. He undertook numerous commissions for the regime. In 1942 he exhibited a show of his work in occupied Paris. Hauptmann was a German dramatist who won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1912.
