Thefirm took ;i i)rominent place from the first moment of its 1859 Mr. \anderburgh was elected judge of the fourth judicial dis-trict, of which Hennepin county constituted a part, and was the firstresident of Minneapolis to occupy such a place. Successively Vanderburgh dispensed justice in the district for over twentyyears, driving over a large part of the circuit. In a day when thejurisprudence of Minnesota was but slightly developed, his excellenttraining and sound judgment blazed out the path of interpretation,which other courts followed.
