KYPHOPLASTY


Kyphoplasty. Fracture of the body of the vertebra is originate a compression fracture (fig. 1). First step : the catheter is inserted inside the body of the fractured vertebra (fig. 2). Second step : the balloon catheter, placed inside the fractured vertebral body, is inflated. This restores the height of the vertebra (). Third step : the balloon catheter, which was inflated inside the fractured vertebral body, is removed. This delimits a cavity inside which a cement will be injected (). This technique enables to relieve the pain, stabilize the fracture, restore the height of the vertebra and reduce the deformation of the column (cyphosis).
