Teachers and unions have gathered today at the doors of the Ministry of Education and Youth to request the renewal of the contract of 1,500 professionals whose contract ends on December 22. The demonstration, under the slogan 'DocentesTodoElCurso' and '#RefuerzosCovidNecesarios, has been called by the CCOO union in Madrid. The reason for the rally, which began at 5:30 on Calle Alcalá, is "the dismissal of interim teachers with Covid hiring." According to the general secretary of the Madrid CCOO Teaching Federation, Isabel Galvín, "they want to do without 1,000 teachers and almost 500 professionals such as technical specialists, educators, control and administrative assistants, who have also been hired until December 22 to apply the Covid reinforcement measures in the centers ". CCOO requires the Ministry to extend the contracts of the Covid reinforcement teaching staff until the end of the course in the face of the pandemic in order to guarantee the equality of students in access to education. In a telematic press conference after the Board of Spokespersons, the spokesperson for United We Can, Isa Serra has defended that these contracts have managed to deal with the "overcrowding" of classrooms. For his part, the PSOE spokesman in the Madrid Assembly, Ángel Gabilondo, has asked to rehire this staff, something "essential" in this pandemic situation. Vox spokeswoman Rocío Monasterio has assured that "this is very serious and we cannot afford it. If we need to reduce political spending to have teachers, let's do it." Also the spokesperson for Más Madrid, Pablo Gómez Perpinyà and the spokesperson for Cs, César Zafra have exposed their complaint and the need to extend the contract to these teachers. The PP spokesman, Alfon
