Eaton Hall, the Cheshire seat of the Duke of Westminster, neo-gothic hall mostly demolished in 1963
Engraving from Howson, J. S., The River Dee: Its Aspect and History, 1875. The house goes back as far as Henry III (1250 or so), but was rebuilt in the first quarter of the 19th century, finished in 1825. Then mostly demolished in 1963. It belongs (as it has for centuries) to the family of the Duke of Westminster, and is in Cheshire. It’s open one day a year.
