A magnificent South Indian chiselled bichawa, Tanjore, 17th century Curved blade of distinct diamond section, fullered on both sides, with a chiselled, sculpted dragon in openwork at the root. The knuckle guard tendril-shaped, likewise chiselled in openwork, with a finger rest on one side and a sculpted peacock on the top. A sculpted stork with the head of a yali and with an inset, movable tongue riveted onto one side, remnants of gilding.
