It would seemthat the purchase by George Ely at Sheriffs sale on Oc-tober 30, 1765, was by agreement with his stepson Cap-tain George Coryell, to whom he conveyed an interesttherein on April 8, 1767; but before the surveys weremade, by which the tract was to be divided between them,George Ely became mentally incapacitated and his sonJohn Ely secured an Act of Assembly authorizing himto make the division and convey to Captain Coryell hispart of the tract, which he did on October 9, 1782.
