Grangemouth oil refinery and petrochemical complex is the first plant to import ethane from US shale oil as a raw material.
Grangemouth crude oil refinery and petrochemical complex is the only operational oil refinery in Scotland and one of six in the UK. Currently owned by Ineos and Petrachina, it contributes 4% of Scotland's GDP. Due to the economic effects caused by coronavirus, the oil refining capacity has been reduced permanently shedding 200 jobs.
