I have been surprised to find radiographs ofhidden Dental Caries. sucjj vaiue [n locating hidden carious cavities inTigs. 462, 463 and 464 , Figure 462 is a case in which the patient was suffering consider-ably. The pain seemed to be localized in either the second bicuspid orthe first molar. The radiograph shows nothing wrong with the secondbicuspid, an abscess at the mesio-buccal root of the first molar and, mostimportant of all from the standpoint of relieving pain, a carious cavityin the distal of the second molar. The cavity was entirely covered withgum tissue. When access was gained to it, it was found that the pulp wasexposed. A sedative treatment was applied and pain was relievedimmediately. Figure 463 shows caries at the cervical margins of the filling
