Homer Taylor Fuller, one of the mostnoted educators in the country, a nativeof the town of Lempster, born November15, 1838, died at Saranac Lake, N. Y.,August 14, 1908. He was the son of Sylvanus and SarahM. (Taylor) Fuller. He was a directdescendant of Dr. Samuel Fuller of theMayflower Company, and a grandson ofNoah Fuller, a soldier of the fitted for college at Kimball Union Academy and graduated from Dartmouthin the class of 18G4. He was principal ofFredonia (N. Y.) Academy three years;pursued theological studies at , Andoverand Union Seminaries, graduating fromthe latter in 18G9; was pastor of the Con-gregational Church at Peshtigo, Wis., un-til January, 1871; principal of St. Johns-. Rev. Homer T. Fuller bury (Vt.) Academy from 1871 till 1882,during which time the prosperity of theinstitution was established; principal ofthe Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Insti-tute from 1882 to 1894, and President ofDrury College, Springfield, Mo., from 1894to 1905, during which time important newbuildings were added and $2,000,000 raisedfor the varied uses of the institution. In1905, in failing health, he resigned, andretired to private life at Fredonia, N. Y.,where he held his residence till 1880 he received from Dartmouth Col-lege the degree of Ph. D. Iowa Collegemade him a Doctor of Divinity in 1898,and Drury a Doctor of Laws in 1905. Hewas a fellow of the American Associationfor the Advancement of Science, a chartermember of the Geological Society ofAmerica and a corporate member of theAmerican Board of Foreign Missions. Hehad traveled extensively in Europe andthe East
