View N of the Lundin Links standing stones, Fife, Scotland, UK, on the second fairway of the Lundin Ladies Golf Club: balls are hit between the near pair ( & tall) & the third monolith to the N which is around high. The red sandstone pillars were once the SSE (R), SSW (L) & NNW corners of a four-poster, a long rectangular setting (31m x ) aligned SSE-NNW. The missing NNE stone was broken by treasure hunters in the C18th: 'as late as 1792 it lay beside its stump'. Investigations around the stones in the 1770s uncovered human bones in stone cists, other 'ancient sepulchres' were discovered nearby. Local traditions link the stones with the Romans & Druids, or make them the memorials of the Danish chiefs defeated by Banquo & Macbeth.
