Preparing a solution. Apparatus needed to prepare a solution of iron (II) sulphate. At bottom right are grams of iron (II) sulphate heptahydrate crystals. These will be dissolved in 250 millilitres of water (in wash bottle at centre right) in a volumetric flask (left). Iron (II) sulphate is used as a food additive and as a dye.
