He had elementary flying at Miami, Fla., and advanced fly-ing at Pensacola, Fla., where he was commissioned Ensign, on , 1918. At Miami he acted as submarine coast-patrol, and atPensacola, served as bombing-pilot, and as instructor in the spring of 1919 Ensign Hinds was promoted to DivisionCommander of the Bombing Squadron, at Pensacola, and is stillin Service in that capacity.
