Super low tides expose rock pools that are rarely left high and dry. Here, rock pools in Saltern Cove Nature Reserve (within the English Riviera Geopark, South Devon) are left high and dry ahead of predicted flooding by the super high tides following the low tides. Saltern Cove is the only nature reserve in Britain which extends below the low tide mark under the sea.

Vast beds of sea kelp (laminaria digitata) are exposed during super low tides at Saltern Cove in south Devon.
