Sebastian Brant (1457-1521). 1856 illustration of the German humanist and satirist Sebastian Brant (or Brandt). Brant is best known for his satire 'Das Narrenschiff' (The Ship of Fools). His writing included many works on civil and canon law, and his compilation of fables and other popular stories 'Aesopi Appologi sive Mythologi cum quibusdam Carminum et Fabularum additionibus' (1501).
