From the edmi and its allies, with which it agrees in its leadingcharacteristics, this gazelle is readily distinguished by the developmentof a flabby corrugated elevation on the skin of the nose of both coat is thick and the general colour of the upper - parts palebrownish fawn, with the lateral band darker than in the other membersof the sub-group. Height at shoulder, from 23 to 24 inches. The protuberance on the nose is connected with the sexualfunction ; in dead specimens it exhibits a slight cavity beneath theskin which can be inflated by blowing air into the nostrils, and it seemstherefore capable of distension during life.
