In the fall, the Mitchell River is the site of a large sockeye salmon run that comes up the Fraser River system through Quesnel Lake and into the Mitchell River. Views of the Cariboo Mountains can be had from the lake The blue sky, mists, fall trees, and the snowy mountains are reflected in the lake. This is the end of the north arm of the Lake near where the Mitchell River estuary enters.
