The subject of Shop Specialization,Work and Tools was reported upon by Mr. W. T. Gale, Demonstrator, Chicagoand Northwestern Railway, Chicago, Gale presented some excellent illus-trations of the methods in vogue in vari-ous shops and laid great stress on thevalue of specialization, which, he claimed,was largely due to economic conditionsof our day. It is the result of close com-petition in all lines of trade, business andprofessions. Today competition is morekeen than ever.
