Wool, twill weave; embroidered with wool in detached chain, Roumanian, satin, surface satin and stem stitches; edged with buttonhole-stitched loops and woven cut fringe As the 19th century progressed, embroidered wool bedcovers became unfashionable, and there was a noticeable decline in their production. Jacquard woven coverlets and quilts made with commercially produced textiles and stylish imported textiles replaced the once-popular wool embroidered bedcovers.
