Mobile phone radiation experiment. In 2005, this is the largest ever study of mobile phone radiation on living animals. Seen here is a plastic cage where laboratory rats are exposed to radio frequency electromagnetic radiation equivalent to that emitted by mobile phones. At the end of their natural life span (3 years), the rats are examined for tumours and other diseases. Mobile phones emit a low dose of microwave radiation which can be absorbed through the skull and brain of the user. Photographed at the Cancer Research Centre, Ramazzini Foundation, Bologna, Italy.
