Germinating pollen grain of the voodoo or arum lily (Sauromatum guttatum), coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Sauromatum guttatum is an arum lily from the family Araceae. Flowers arise from the tuber and in this process heat is produced along with a strong odour that attract insects. Pollination is carried out by flies and carrion beetles.
