Andean Condor Conservation Project. Researchers used a radio tracking system to track Andean condors (Vultur gryphus) as part of the Andean Condor Conservation Project. The project, founded in 1991, aims to reintroduce Andean condors (Vultur gryphus) to the wild through captive breeding programs and nursing injured birds back to health. Each bird that is released is fitted with a tracking chip to give researchers a better idea of how these animals live. Photographed in the Paileman mountains, Patagonia, Chile.
