One ounce of seed for 60 hills; 2 to 3 pounds per acre in hills. Barnard's Golden-Hearted. The melons are a little larger than the old type of "Rocky- ford," but specimens run more uniform as to size and shape, which is nearly round, and heavily netted; the ribs are so shallow that they barely show. The flesh is exceptionally thick and yellow, the seed cavity is very small; the flavor is delicious, being remarkably sweet and juicy.
