The embryos develop in the intestine and pass thence by the lymphatics into the voluntary muscles, destro)^- ing the affected fibres. These swell, lose their striations, and contain granular masses which stain with eosin. The parasite is at first surrounded by the sarco- lemma alone, but subsequently a hyaline chitin-likecapsule develops, which laterbecomes calcareous, and itthen appears to the nakedeye as a whitish dot in themuscle.
