He was one of the active organizers and formany years President of the Young Mens Republi-can Club of Providence, is President of the Mowry& Goff Alumni Association, Vice-President of theDelta Kappa Epsilon Brown University Alumni Asso-ciation, and is a member of the Sons of the AmericanRevolution, the Masonic Order to the thirty-second. LEGRIS, Marie Joseph Ernest, physician andsurgeon, was born in Louiseville, Province of Quebec,Canada, May 8, 1857, the son of Antoine L. andMarie L. (Beland) Legris. He is of French grandfather Legris was born in France andemigrated to Canada about 1770. His son AntoineL. was the father of eleven children, one a priest in 48 MEN OF PROGRESS.
