Array of contraceptives, including a diaphragm, spermicidal pessaries and various types of condom. A diaphragm (also called a cap or Dutch Cap) is a hemispherical rubber cap bound by a thicker rubber ring. The device is inserted into the vagina prior to intercourse and positioned so that it covers the neck of the cervix, thus preventing sperm from entering the womb. It is normally used in conjunction with a chemical spermicide, in the form of a cream, gel or pessary (as seen here). A condom is a male contraceptive in the form of a sheath which is fitted over the penis before sexual intercourse. The device prevents sperm from entering the vagina & causing pregnancy.
