A late Gothic Southern German war chest, circa 1500 Rectangular body of heavy sheet iron with reinforced corners, and straps with incised decoration on the lid and a central keyhole. Lock mechanism inside the lid with large Gothic C-springs, and seven latches (lock and case replaced). Frontal fake lock with a curved keyway guide and openwork copper frieze of flowery vines. Two movable handles on the sides. A lockable compartment inside with two bolts. Dimensions 96 x 49 x 51 cm.
