The railroad bridge over BullBun was destroyed, severing communication with Alexandria, the roads werepicketed, and Fitz Lees cavalry pushed forward as far as Fairfax CourtHouse on the turnpike and Bmkes Station on the railroad. The long marchof over fifty-six miles in two days entitled Jacksons men to a holiday, andthe day of rest at Manassas Junction was fully enjoyed.
