Green tree python on a branch. The green tree python (Morelia viridis) is found in New Guinea and part of Australia, where its vivid green colouring, flecked with blue, white and yellow, provides excellent camouflage in its arboreal habitat. These snakes feed on lizards, birds and other arboreal vertebrates. They provide an excellent example of parallel evolution as their appearance and behaviour is very similar to the Emerald Tree Boa found in South America.
