Ground agama (Agama aculeata) male displaying on a branch. The dominant male, or cock, ground agama lizard defends his territory against intruders and subordinate males by displaying on a prominent branch. In the breeding season, blue colour appears on the sides of the male heads. This solitary lizard inhabits savannah and arid areas of Africa. It feeds on ants. Photographed in South Africa, in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
