Face recognition. Scientist with a computer which recognises facial expressions. The computer observes the man's surprised expression with a camera, and displays this image on the screen at left. The computer analyses the movement of different tissue layers in the man's face, and displays these as facial maps (small images on the screen at centre). The computer compares this data to stored computer models to determine the expression, and produces a computer animation of it (main image on the larger screen).
