It contains a condensed history of the state of Missouri and its chief cities ... ; its pioneer record, war history, resources, biographical sketches . a few months at the beginning of the year 1873, and FatherKennedy returned to Trenton and the Trenton mission, and took up hisresidence in July, 1873. Steps were taken immediately to secure a plat ofground for a church edifice; this was purchased, and arrangements alsoeffected for the building of a church. The building is of Gothic style ofarchitecture, of wood, and in size thirty-three by sixty-eight, and cost about$4,000. The organ, sacred vestments, furniture, etc., cost $1,000 church was named the St. Joseph Church, and was dedicated to theservice of Almighty God on the first Sunday in September, 1874, by John J. Hogan, bishop of the diocese. The Rev. J. J. Kennedy isthe pastor in charge. The present membership numbers nearly 200. Sometwo years ago, by the united eftbrts of pastor and people, a beautiful slopinghill, adjacent to the city, was purchased, containing six acres, and laid outfor a cemetery.
