FOR MAN WHO CRAWLED WITH BROKEN ANKLE TO DESTROY SECRET DOCUMENTS - FLIGHT SERGEANT NEVILLE HEWITT of Theodore, Queensland, an Australian air gunner, who crawled across the Tunisian desert with a broken ankle, so that he could destroy secret documents and equipment in his crashed Wellington, has been awarded the MILITARY MEDAL at a recent Investiture. During that time he suffered terribly from the thirst and cold, but despite his broken ankle he finally reached his goal and systematically destroyed all secret documents and equipment. He was spotted by an outpost of the Grenadier Guards, who brought him in totheir lines. After spending a few days in an advanced dressing station, he was flown back to his unit.
