The cucuruchos of Ecuador walk the historic streets of Quito in their colourful purple robes and iconic cones on the morning of Good Friday. The procession is seen as a form of confession and way of reaffirming their faith. The cucuruchos walk the streets completely barefoot and carrying giant crosses. The event is part of santa semana, and with 90% of Ecuadorians being catholic, it is a major event.
