The mileage, exclusive of yard tracks,sidings, second tracks, etc., has increasedfrom 2,095 miles, in 1896, to 4,357 milesup to the present time. This expansionextends greater benefits to shippers andmore conveniences to passengers, as con-nections are continually being arrangedwith intersecting lines, thereby lesseningthe time between distant points. .^j^f^f^ •.
